Operation system Windows is collapsing, the system is to big and heavy. Michael Silver and Neil MacDonals of the company Gartner told this in Las Vegas. Windows has a lot of old code en is being compromised by design decisions in the past.
As a result, it is too large and too heavy, whereas users need software to run on light and cheap machines. This way its difficult for Microsoft to fix important bugs and create important improvements. And with the coming of more and more webapps the need for big operation systems become less important.
My advice: buy a mac and be happy

My advice: use a Windows XP if you’re not an idiot; use a Mac if you’re a bit of a dummy.
“Too large and too heavy” - how vague. “Fix important bugs and create important improvements” - like what? Install Sygate Personal Firewall and you’re safe from any internet traffic. Run a spyware app once every few weeks to clear the odd evil cookie that’ll destroy your entire OS… not.
If you have any problems with XP, then you deserve to be forced to use a Mac for all eternity.
Windows xp worked fine for me pas years, but since my macbook i will never buy a windows machine again..
The Windows/Mac war will always be there.
The way I see it is that people that use Windows are task-oriented people that just want to get things done.
For me, and most Mac users, we also want to get things done, but we find that we are most efficient when using products (whether it be a Mac / Tivo / iPhone / etc.) that appeal to the senses, look great, work intuitively.
We as creative people find that the look and feel (if good) help us perform better.
I know my programmers, as XP users, don’t really care if when they minimize, the window does something nice, or if the upper area of a window looks consistent and nice, but we tend to respect and search for those types of products.
To each his own.
to derek davis: I couldn’t agree more, i almost would say “Nice speech”. for me mac is working inspiring, and its fun to work on which improves my motivation. i am and will be mac user forever!
My opinion is limited by the facts that I have never really used a Mac only once to surf… I’m using most of the time Linux or Windows, Windows just for the fact that most of my clients uses it and so its easy when they have a problem i can fix it fast for them and i don’t must search hours how the things work… I love Linux because you really can tweak your OS so it only uses the stuff you use making it super fast. Plus I love Open Source software, and so am I as a programmer able to make the changes or bug fixes to my most loved programs…
