3rd hockey play-off – Laren – Amsterdam

Just a few hours ago the 3rd match between Laren and Amsterdam has been played. In this half finals Amsterdam won the first match, but Laren won the others, Laren will be competing against Den Bosch for the national championship. Photography wise the conditions where not optimal, only the first 20min i managed to get enough light to make some decent shots, the second half was hard, shots turned out ok but for a perfectionist as i am it will be never good enough.

New Lens: Canon 70-200 F/2.8L IS II

Finally, i got a new lens, after using the old Canon 70-200 without much happiness i finally bought the new big brother. It costs way to much but after using it in a few sport shoots now i really really love it. Its way faster, sharper, has more contrast and the shots are a lot more saturated. I am 100% sure it is going to be my favorite all round lens. For field hockey its perfect to shoot for like 1/4th of the field, in the near future combined with a 300 2.8 (with 1.4 tc) it is going to be my favorite sport setup (with a second body of course) Checkout my latest 2 fieldhockey sets for pictures i made with this baby! …

Hockey play-offs Laren – Amsterdam

It’s sunday and the return match for Laren – Amsterdam is here. This is possibly one of the worst days to shoot outdoor, it rains like hell and the weather sealing of my Canon 1d Mark III and 70-200 is getting tests to its max, even after i dried my camera it still drips water, but it seems to do fine. Should really buy myself a new rain cover. Anyhow the match was great both teams really gave their maximum and resulted in a 4-1 win for Laren which means Wednesday night there will be a 3rd match for the finals. In the other match Den Bosch already places them selves for the finals so what will it be Den Bosch – Laren or Den Bosch – Amsterdam.
